The president continues to push his idea to ‘nationalize” the election meaning – having the federal government do things like count ballots and run elections and manage voter registration.
I’m going to share with you exactly what the president said just a short time ago – and then I’m going to give you the facts. Here we go.
Trump is referring to all these Republican Representatives and Senators who were standing behind him. He wasn’t specific about what he wanted them to do…but let’s see if he clarifies.
The federal government doesn’t “do them anyway” meaning doesn’t run elections because in Article I section 4 the constitution the founding fathers gave that power to the states. States run elections in this country. Not the federal government. So that’s why the federal government doesn’t “do them anyway.” And for the record — the founding fathers did that for a reason. They were fearful of a monarchy returning…they had just won independence from the king of England during the American revolution. So when it came to figuring out the new power structure in their new country the United States of America — they divided the power up so no one branch of government or state got too powerful and importantly – limited the authority of the executive. Meaning they limited the president’s power – because they didn’t want another king. Fun fact – the constitution gives the president zero power over elections. In all the different places the founding fathers talked about elections – the president isn’t included once. Now – we all have to assume that President Trump understands the constitution of the United States. He swore on a bible to uphold it when he was inaugurated – so I have no idea why he keeps saying this. But let’s keep going. Maybe he’ll shed some light on why…
Ohhh…now I see. He wants the federal government to take over elections because in his view some states run their elections “horribly” and they are “crooked.” That is his opinion. That is not a fact. Now – I want to be clear I’m not saying every state runs its elections perfectly…and I’m certainly not saying there aren’t problems in some elections. Those absolutely exist. But here’s the genius part – we have remedies and contingency plans and laws that govern how we fix those problems. Those remedies run through the states and through the courts and even through the federal government. But the fact is *none* of these problems that trump has been talking about for 10 years have ever been proven anywhere. Not in one state – including red states. Not in one court and not even by president trump’s own department of justice during his first term. But let’s keep going and maybe we’ll get a better idea if there is something new he knows.
Ohhh – so then not new…we’re going back to 2020. Six year ago. Again? Ok…let’s hear more…
Here are the actual voting results for 2020 in Detroit…President Biden won 94% of that district to Trump’s 5%.
Here are the actual voting results for Philadelphia specifically in 2020… President Biden won with 81.4% of the vote and Trump received only 17.9%.
Here are the 2020 results in Atlanta – which is located in Fulton county. President Biden won that district by 72.7% of the vote and Trump received 26.2%. So what I’m understanding is President Trump is doubting election results in deep blue districts. I don’t understand why he’s under the impression that he would win in a deep blue district. That would be like if joe bide argued in 2020 that he actually won in the deepest red districts of Texas. That doesn’t make any sense. But maybe Trump will make it make sense as he wraps up his comments.
Again, no court or state or federal administration has found that any state has administered their elections fraudulently. Look – the constitution is clear. The federal government can not “take over” or “nationalize” the election. But as I told you in this video special deep dive video yesterday – that doesn’t mean the president can’t do other things that could impact the election. So if you want to learn more about that make sure you check it out on my Substack.
