A worldwide caution alert was just issued today for all Americans living abroad and traveling abroad.
This comes as we see violence and protests popping up in front of US embassies all around the world in response to this Israel Hamas war.
If you go to the State Department website you’ll see a huge orange banner at the top of the page that says “worldwide caution alert”. Once you click into you’ll see a message from the State Department saying “due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against us citizens and interests, the Department of State advises US citizens overseas to exercise increased caution.”
The State Department says if you are living abroad or if you are traveling abroad – you should do three things –
One — stay alert in locations frequented by tourists. Two — enroll in the smart traveler enrollment program (STEP) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas. And three — follow the Department of State on Facebook and X for all the latest information in real time.
The State Department has also urged all US travelers to “reconsider travel” to Israel and the West Bank and placed a “do not travel” advisory — its most severe warning — on the Gaza Strip due to “terrorism, civil unrest, and armed conflict.”
