President Biden will address the country tonight from the Oval Office.
He’s expected to talk about the two critical issues the United States has found itself involved in. The wars between Ukraine and Russia and now the war between Israel and Hamas. The president is going to explain why – from his perspective – it’s in our national security interest to stay involved and what it could cost the American people if we walk away.
It’s unclear if the President will take the opportunity tonight to lay out exactly what kind of supplemental aid package he wants to see for Ukraine and Israel. There are a lot of dollar amounts floating around the internet, but none have been confirmed by the White House. In the end – the dollar amount will be up to Congress. They’re the ones who have to approve any funding for any country. But the fact is public opinion has been waning especially for Ukraine and support even in congress for both is not guaranteed.
The President is expect to try and convince you that whatever it costs – it’s going to be less than if we do nothing.
The President will appear behind the resolute desk for only the second time since he took office tonight at 8 p.m. eastern. You’ll be able to watch it on tv and on the White House’s YouTube page.
