Is voter fraud a real problem in our elections or not?
This idea that there is wide spread voter fraud and illegals voting in our elections is all over the media and on the internet and the president constantly talks about it and congress has acted with the republicans in the House just passing the Save America act. While it’s not yet a law because it hasn’t passed the Senate – it’s a fact that– voter id is really popular….in 2025 — 83% of Americans said they are in favor of requiring all voters to show government issued photo ID in order to vote. So if almost everyone in the country is in favor of this – and we have all this alleged voter fraud — why are so many election officials and voting rights advocates raising all the red flags about the Save America act – which not only requires all voters to show ID before casting a ballot – but also takes it a step further and requires all voters to provide proof of citizenship. I asked the executive director of the center for election innovation and research.
Ok – so there’s as lot in David’s answer and I’m going to talk about the actual non-citizen and voter fraud numbers he was referencing in a second because you may actually be shocked…and just so you know – I already posted a deep dive about all these numbers over on my substack….so go check that out.
But for purposes of this video — first and foremost — David said the fact is, the law says you must be a citizen to vote in a federal election. It’s always been a federal crime for non US-citizens to vote in any federal election…it’s not only illegal under the constitution but it’s also illegal under countless state and federal laws…punishable with fines and up to one year in prison. As for voter ID specifically – we already have that too. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures so the association that represents every state legislature in all 50 states – red and blue –they say 36 states have laws requesting or requiring voters to show some form of identification at the polls. The remaining 14 states and Washington, DC, use other methods to verify the identity of voters including requiring government issued id when they register to vote. So – while each state does it differently – the fact is – every state does verify each voter’s identity in some way.
And that brings me to the next logical question. Is there really widespread voter fraud and how many non citizens are actually voting in our federal elections? If you listen to people on the internet or President Trump or lawmakers in Washington DC who talk about this issue all the time – you’re probably thinking the numbers are astronomical. So why does David say the numbers are miniscule?
Because — that’s a fact. And I can show you the numbers. Let’s start with president trump’s own administration. In august of 2025 in response to a lawsuit from the ACLU the US citizenship and immigration services said – when they checked voter rolls for the states – they found 96.31% of voters on the rolls were u-s citizens. 3.12% needed more information to verify whether the voter was a citizen. 0.53% were dead and 0.04% were non-US citizens. Don’t trust those numbers? Let’s look some others. The super conservative Heritage Foundation constantly looks at these voter fraud numbers too. In fact they have an election fraud map right on their website – which was just updated in December of 2025. That map documents proven cases of voter fraud that have actually been prosecuted in a court of law – which is the only thing that really matters, not speculation. Not fear mongering – but provable fraud in a court. The heritage foundation’s map has a total of 11 categories of fraud including impersonation, duplicate voting, buying votes and false registration. They also have a sub category of fraud called “alien.” So that would be non-citizens voting in federal elections. Now — to be overly cautious – I’m going to count all of the fraud the heritage foundation found. All of it. Do you want to know the number of all the fraud the heritage foundation found? 1620 cases of voter fraud….and of those, 100 were cases of “alien” voter fraud…since 1982.
So – let me be very clear in the last 44 years – we have had 22 midterm and presidential elections. And over those 22 elections – we have had according to US House Clerk’s state-certified election results – almost 2.2 billion (2.18) votes cast. That means while 1620 cases of voter fraud — sounds like a big number it’s actually point 0.0000743%. That’s one case of voter fraud for every 1.35 million votes cast. And if you don’t trust the heritage foundation – you can go state to state – and they all say the same thing – the instances of non-citizens voting in federal elections and actual voter fraud is miniscule and if it does happen – the states -red and blue – are really good about finding it and prosecuting it.
So if voter fraud such a miniscule problem then why are we hearing about it so much? And why do really good people believe so strongly that widespread voter fraud exists and our elections are corrupt? David has a theory.
There’s so much more to talk about when it comes to these numbers and how it breaks down for each state – and what president trump wants with the Georgia ballots and why he’s suing dozens of states – including red states to get access to the private voter data on state voter rolls. So if you want to check all that stuff out – i did a deep dive which is available now on my Substack.
