Federal Employee Vaccine Mandate Blocked | Lisa Remillard

Federal employee vaccine mandate blocked

January 21, 2022

A Federal Judge in Texas has just blocked the vaccine mandate for federal workers —  nationwide.

Now understand this ruling will be appealed, so things may change.

But in the meantime — this judge issued a nationwide injunction saying the president’s vaccine mandate for federal workers cannot move forward.

His ruling specifically says –

..  this case is not about whether folks should get vaccinated against COVID-19—the court believes they should. It is not even about the federal government’s power, exercised properly, to mandate vaccination of its employees. It is instead about whether the President can, with the stroke of a pen and without the input of Congress require millions of federal employees to undergo a medical procedure as a condition of their employment.”

The judge goes on to site the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on the OSHA vaccine case as further support for his ruling.

So what does this mean for you if you’re a federal employee? It means, the President’s vaccine mandate will not be enforced – for now– while this case gets appealed and continues on.

And for those of you who are federal contractors – the President’s vaccine mandate for you is also still under a nationwide temporary injunction while that case continues to play out.
