Don’t be fooled. FTC tries to stop confusion over THC products

July 6, 2023

THC laced products are now in the crosshairs of the FTC.

Quick which chips are you looking at?

What about these candies?

And these cookies?

If you said Doritos, jolly ranchers and Oreos you’d be wrong. And the FTC says that confusion is exactly the problem.

All those products are actually edible THS products. Yes – the same active ingredient in cannabis. Technically the products contain delta-8 THC and the Federal Trade Commission is not happy because lots of kids are getting sick.

The FTC just sent cease and desist letters to six different companies selling the products. The letters say the advertising and marketing of these products is confusing – especially for kids because of the almost identical packaging to regular kid-friendly snacks and candies. The FTC says the companies must stop marketing these products immediately because they are likely violating section 5 of the FTC Act which prohibits unfair or deceptive practices that present unwarranted health of safety risks.
