Secretary of State Antony Blinken made an interesting comment about the Chinese spy balloon that’s floating above the central part of the US right now. It’s something the Pentagon didn’t mention.
It was sort of an “under the radar comment” but Blinken made it twice. So I’m going to play it for you, so you can hear it for yourself.
What exactly does that mean? How has the US government stopped the balloon from collecting data? Does that mean that we have access to the inner workings of it? It’s really unclear at this point. And the secretary didn’t elaborate. But usually that’s by design.
Blinken said the US’s main focus right now is getting this Chinese surveillance balloon out of our airspace. He also didn’t mention “how” that’s going to happen. And as a consequence of this blatant spying — Blinken told his Chinese counterpart he has “postponed” his really important diplomatic trip to China that was supposed to start tonight.
Secretary Blinken did not elaborate on any other “consequences” China would face as a result of flying this balloon over the United States. Not to say there won’t be any, just that they aren’t announcing anything right now. As i reported in this video earlier today the pentagon is also constantly monitoring this balloon and it’s going to stick around for a few days.
