Challenger asks SCOTUS to block student loan forgiveness

November 1, 2022

Here we go again.

Another group has appealed to the supreme court to put a stop to President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program.

This challenge is coming from a conservative law group who claims the program would put an undue state tax burden on two specific plaintiffs. So far, the lower courts that have heard this case, including the 7th circuit court of appeals have thrown it out saying these plaintiffs don’t have standing.

Well, they appealed and now it’s going again to Justice Amy Coney Barrett. I told you in this video less than two weeks ago Justice Barrett refused to hear another similar case out of Wisconsin. Again, it’ll be up to her to decide whether to deny the case or send it to the full court.

Now — the student loan forgiveness program is still on pause after a totally separate lawsuit was appealed to the 8th circuit. That appellate court is reviewing a lower court ruling that also threw out a case from 6 conservative states opposing the student loan plan. That case is not resolved yet either.
