Are we getting a Trump/Harris debate? Or not?

July 26, 2024

So – is it going to happen or not?

Well – we know both former President Trump and Vice President Harris say they *want* to debate each other but just yesterday the Trump campaign called that into question. Trump’s campaign manager released this statement saying “general election debate details cannot be finalized until democrats formally decided on their nominee.” The campaign manager went on to blame the “chaos” surrounding the democrat party and President Biden dropping out for the change in tone. And also called VP Harris a “marxist” who can’t beat trump.

In case you didn’t know – back in may – former president trump and President Biden agreed to two debates – one was the one we saw a few weeks ago on CNN and the other is scheduled for September 10th on ABC.

So if that debate is already set –where is this all back and forth coming from? Well – it’s coming from trump himself. On Sunday — just a few hours after President Biden dropped out of the race – the former president posted several things on his social media page – but he also posted this. “now that joe has, not surprisingly, has quit the race, I think the debate, with whomever the radical left democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC”

Vice President Harris responded by posting on her social media – what happened to anytime, any place?

Now – that’s a lot of politics, name calling and trolling going on between both campaigns. But in the end I’m sure you just want to know are we getting a debate between these two or not. It looks like – yes—it will happen eventually. – but as of today we don’t know for sure when or where. The fact is – when Biden and Trump agreed to these debates they agreed that MSNBC and FoxNews would not be eligible as host networks. And now that Biden is out – you heard Harris says she will still play by those previously agreed on rules but it’s trump who is saying he wants to change the rules because he has a different challenger.

On a phone call with reporters on Tuesday of this week Trump told reporters that not only does he want to debate Harris but he would be open to debating her at least once. But we’ll have to see if they can even schedule one debate.

You need to understand — the ABC debate may still happen on September 10thas scheduled. Or it may be rescheduled to a different date on ABC. It may also be switched to another network. In fact, Fox News sent formal letter to both the Trump and Harris campaign offering a debate on September 17th in Pennsylvania. We just don’t know yet. Obviously, I’ll keep you posted as soon as a decision is made.
