Your federal student loan payments will restart in two weeks.
I know. Brutal.
So I sat down with the Department of Education to talk about your options. Turns out you aren’t the only one concerned. The department admits after three years of a payment pause – they’re a little concerned too.
We talked about what you should do if you just can’t swing a payment, parent plus loans, the new on ramp program and of course the new save income driven repayment program. I asked the Under Secretary a bunch of your questions.
But there’s one part of the SAVE program that I think has been lost in the conversation. I’ve reported on the monthly interest forgiveness but the Under Secretary really clarified what that means, and I think you’re going to be surprised.
Of course we also talked about what’s happening with the new federal student loan forgiveness program the President promised.
If you have a federal student loan it’s an interview you don’t want to miss.
