They don’t know.
That’s the result of an 8-month investigation into who leaked the Supreme Court’s draft opinion that overturned Roe vs. Wade.
You remember that. Back in May of last year it was a bombshell that not only would the Supreme Court be overturning a 50 year abortion precedent, but that the information leaked at all. Never before had any supreme court decision been leaked ahead of time.
Almost immediately — the Chief Justice ordered an investigation by the marshal of the court into how this could have happened. And today this 23-page report was released. The marshal interviewed almost 100 employees, most who had access to the draft opinion and found it wasn’t any of them. It also wasn’t any of the people floated on social media. What’s interesting…none of the justices themselves or their spouses were interviewed.
Regardless, the report did make some recommendations including closing the loop of how many people have access to these kinds of sensitive documents. The investigation continues.
