What happened during Trump arraignment in Miami federal court?

June 13, 2023

The Trump arraignment is now over and he is on his way back to his New Jersey golf club.

While in that federal courtroom in front of that magistrate judge for about 45 minutes — the former President did not say a word. His lawyers entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf to those 37 felony counts in the indictment. Trump was deemed not to be a flight risk, he does not have to turn over his passport and there were no travel restrictions placed on him as a condition of release and he does not have to post any type of cash.

The Special Counsel Jack Smith was in the courtroom though he was not the lawyer speaking on behalf of the prosecution.

The judge says the former President is not allowed to have any contact with any witness in this case. To which Trump’s team objected saying that’s almost impossible because most of these witnesses all work for Trump at Mar-a-Lago. So it was decided the government will make a list of people who Trump cannot have contact with and those who he can have contact with but can’t discuss the case with. Once the list is created then both sides will be able to work it out through the court.

Tonight – the former President is expected to speak from Bedminster and then he will hold a fundraiser.
