Governor Tim Walz vs Senator JD Vance.
We are officially getting a vice-presidential debate. Maybe we’ll get two??? And maybe we’ll get a second presidential debate too?
Debates are flying all over the place right now.
Here’s what we know for sure. Former President Trump and Vice President Harris are debating on ABC on September 10th. And as of today both Governor Walz and Senator Vance have agreed to debate each other on CBS on October first.
The debate will be held in New York city and will be moderated by CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell and Face the Nation moderator and CBS news chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan.
Yesterday Governor Walz accepted CBS’s proposed debate date and posted this to his social media page, see you on October 1st, JD.
Then today Senator Vance posted this to his social media pages responding to Governor Walz’s message. Vance said not only did he accept an October 1st debate on CBS but he accepted the CNN debate on September 18th.
The Harris/Walz campaign issued this statement in response to Senator Vance’s September 18th debate acceptance saying “the debate about debates is over.” The Harris/Walz campaign said they want to have two presidential debates and one vice presidential debate. The first presidential debate would be September 10th, the vice presidential debate will be on October 1st and the Harris/Walz campaign has suggested one more presidential debate in October.
I know you’re going to ask whether RFK Jr. will be included in the September 10th presidential debate. The answer is only if he qualifies. The qualifications to appear on that debate stage according to ABC are –one—you meet all the constitutional requirements to be president –two—you have reached 15-percent in four national polls from a specific list of polls by September 3rd –and three—you will appear on enough state ballots to reach 270 electoral votes. As of today, Kennedy does not qualify, but that may change in the next two weeks.
