How did former President Trump and President Biden react to today’s landmark Supreme Court presidential immunity ruling that gives a President immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts he or she takes. And as you can imagine their opinions were very very different.
Since case was about the federal criminal prosecution of Trump for the alleged actions he took to interfere in the results of the 2020 election, I’ll start with his statement. Or should I say …statements!
So far he’s posted three separate times on Truth social. Obviously, he’s thrilled with the court’s ruling.
Immediately after the ruling came down he wrote. All cap, “big win for our constitution and democracy. Proud to be an American!”
An hour later he wrote – “today’s historic decision by the supreme court should end all of crooked Joe Biden’s witch hunts against me.” He specifically lists the New York state cases including his business fraud case, the hush money case and even the E.Jean Carroll civil case. He ends by saying “Proud to be an American!”
Then an hour after that he write “the Supreme Court totally dismantled most of the charges against me. Joe Biden should now call of his “dogs” our country should now be focused on greatness again.”
As I explained in this extremely detailed video earlier today, the court did not “dismantle most of the charges.” They definitely said he was immune from some of the charges but definitely not all of them.
On the flip side, the Biden campaign had the complete opposite take on what happened. The campaign’s statement reads —
“Today’s ruling doesn’t change the facts, so let’s be very clear about what happened on January 6: Donald Trump snapped after he lost the 2020 election and encouraged a mob to overthrow the results of a free and fair election. Trump is already running for president as a convicted felon for the very same reason he sat idly by while the mob violently attacked the capitol: he thinks he’s above the law and is willing to do anything to gain and hold onto power for himself. Since January 6, trump has only grown more unhinged. He’s promising to be a dictator ‘on day one,’ calling for our constitution to be ‘terminated’ so he can regain power, and promising a ‘bloodbath’ is he loses. The American people already rejected Donald Trump’s self-obsessed quest for power once—Joe Biden will make sure they reject it for good in November.”
