TikTok is dark. You literally can’t use it. Yes – the company clearly decided to “go dark” earlier than anyone expected.
You are not alone. No one can use it. No one can download it – because it doesn’t exist in the app store.
If you have the app on your phone if you open it — you will get a pop up that says sorry tiktok isn’t available right now. It explains the fact that the law banning tiktok has taken effect.
If you hit learn more it directs you to a statement saying “we are fortunate that president rump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned. And then it gives you the ability to log into your account to download your data.
Now – I have been reporting this was coming for days. The Biden administration chose not to give TikTok or its American partner companies the assurances they needed to keep the app operational so they literally pulled the plug.
And let me be clear – it’s likely going to stay like this until at least noon on january20th because there is absolutely nothing president-elect Trump can do right now.
