The electoral math killed Harri’s campaign. But how?
Former President Trump is the president elect.
He is the projected winner of the electoral college and Vice President Harris has called him and conceded this race. I’m going to explain why we were able to get a result in this election so early in a second but first.
A few things – one – this trump victory is not official. As I have been reporting for weeks, nothing is official until the states certify their results which won’t happen for days or weeks. That said – this result is not going to change even though the votes are still being counted. As I have reported, just because the media makes a projection does not mean the vote counting stops. No. It keeps going until every single ballot is checked and counted.
Two — how did trump do it and why were we able to know the result so quickly? Well –we watched it happen together live last night.
The reason why this race was projected for trump even though Nevada and Arizona as of right now have not been called is because – math. There is no mathematically possibility for Vice President Harris to overcome the electoral victory that trump had last night.
And here’s how that math works. Once polls started to close, all the states were trending the way we were all expecting. But some critical swing states were called fairly early in the night. First it was North Carolina which was expected. Trump won that state before. And then it was Georgia. That opened up multiple paths for trump to get to 270. But then narrowed Harris’s path to 270. Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020 and last night it flipped. And because of Georgia and North Carolina – mathematically if Harris had any chance of winning she would have had to win Pennsylvania. Which ultimately was called for trump.
Lastly – I want to make one more point about why we knew the results so early and why they were accepted so early. Mostly because this race wasn’t close. But you’re probably thinking it wasn’t close in 2020 either and it took four days for that race to be called. You’re right. 2020 wasn’t close either. But in 2020, there were a couple of other things happening that I have talked about before. There were covid restrictions, there were a lot of mail ballots to be counted and the losing candidate in 2020, former president trump decided not to concede that race and instead filed more than 60 legal challenges which ultimately were almost all dismissed. For the record he still hasn’t conceded that race. None of that is opinion. Those are facts and that’s what happened.
The bottom line – in America our country was founded on the belief that there will be a peaceful transition of power. So in 2024 not only has Vice President Harris called president elect Trump to concede but President Biden has also called him to invite him to the white house for a visit. That is what a peaceful transfer of power looks like.
