Guy at the top of Project 2025 has stepped down. But that does not mean Project 2025 going away. Oh no no no
According to the heritage foundation – which is the conservative organization behind project 2025 – Paul Dans a former Trump White House official has decided to end his time with the group. The Heritage Foundation president released a statement this afternoon saying the group is sticking to its original timeline and Paul Dans’ exit comes after the project “completed exactly what it set out to do: bringing together over 110 leading conservative organizations to create a unified conservative vision, motivated to devolve power from the unelected administrative state, and returning it to the people. This tool was built for any future administration to use.”
This is all welcomed news especially in the Trump campaign. Trump’s campaign managers released a statement saying “President Trump’s campaign has been very clear for over a year that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign, did not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the president in any way. Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign— it will not end well for you.”
But let’s be clear – just because Mr. Dans is leaving does not mean Project 2025 is shutting down. The Heritage Foundation says it’s going to shift from policy making to action. The Heritage Foundation said “our collective efforts to build a personnel apparatus for policymakers of all levels—federal, state, and local—will continue.”
Why do they need a personnel apparatus? Well – one of the major proposals of the 900-plus-page Project 2025 policy document outlines the idea to mass fire about 50,000 federal employees and dissolving the Department of Education. So the Heritage Foundation’s statement implies that they are going to start identifying similar minded individuals who could fill some potential roles in their ideal government and could be “loyal” to these new ideas.
Now – none of Project 2025 can happen without new laws passed by Congress or a president who signs on and implements these policies. Democrats have been tying Project 2025 to former President Trump because, well he’s a Republican and Project 2025 is filled with conservative former Trump White House aids, allies and advisors. But from the beginning, the Trump campaign has denounced Project 2025 and the former president himself has been pissed that people behind Project 2025 were out there promoting it.
The fact is as I told you in this video when you compare the policy proposals in Project 2025 with Trump’s Agenda 47 and the brand new GOP platform – there are definitely a lot of policies that are the same – and a few that are different.
