POTUS mobilizes 3,000 US troops to serve in Europe

July 13, 2023

Yes the President today authorized the mobilization of up to 3,000 select reserve US troops.

But no, it’s probably not what you think.

The Department of Defense issued information late this afternoon after the President signed this executive order authorizing the pentagon to mobilize up to 3,000 reservists for duty in Europe.

Now – just because the authorization to mobilize the troops was made now, does not necessarily mean they will be called up and deployed now. In fact, the Defense Department hasn’t said when exactly they would deploy these additional troops to Europe to support Operation Atlantic Resolve. DOD only said the operation was designated as a “contingency operation” and that it will give the US military’s European command “greater flexibility” to defend the continent. Last year the President increased the US’s European troop presence by about 20,000 troops.

This executive order signed by President Biden today comes after the NATO summit this week where the member nations pledged to put 300,000 total alliance troops at “high readiness” to combat two main threats if need be, “terrorism and Russia.”

I’m sure we’ll be hearing much more about this.
