I don’t wanna jinx it or nothing butttt –we may be getting – some – Epstein files soon. Not because the Trump administration is willingly handing them over. But because they’re being forced to hand them over because of a subpoena from House Republicans and Democrats.
I told you in this video two weeks ago that the house oversight committee sent several subpoenas to some very high profile people involved in the Epstein and maxwell cases – I’m going to talk more about those people in a second because they’re important to all of this. But first I want to talk about this big subpoena the committee sent to the trump justice department.
This subpoena is very clear. It says the attorney general of the United States is “required” to give the house committee all of the documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell cases minus the names of the victims or any identifying information. The subpoena says all of those documents were due to the House oversight committee today August 19th. But they’re not coming today. Late yesterday, committee chairman James Comer a Republican from Kentucky released this statement saying that the DOJ told him that they will comply with the subpoena but they’re going to miss today’s deadline — because there are just so many documents and they have to redact all the victim names and that’s going to take some time. Chairman comer said the first document release from DOJ to the committee will come this Friday. He also suggested because of the number of documents — they’re going to be turned over in batches.
But – and here’s where we come in — after the House lawmaker’s review of those documents is done — the house oversight committee said they plan to make the records public. But – they also said all those documents– will be scrubbed again for any other potential information that may identify victims or sensitive information that may impact any ongoing criminal cases or investigations.
So what documents are we talking about? According to the subpoena – DOJ must turn over all documents and communications in the possession, custody or control of the United States justice department in *unredacted* form – minus victim names of course — that includes:
- Everything the government has related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxell
- Everything contained in the case file during Epstein’s 2019 prosecution
- Everything contained in the case file of Ghislaine Maxwell’s prosecution
- Everything from Epstein’s florida federal prosecution that resulted in that 2007 sweetheart deal
- Everything referring to the death of Epstein
And this one is interesting – all documents and communications between President Joe Biden’s office and the Justice Department regarding the Epstein case in 2019, the Epstein sweetheart deal in 2007 and the Maxwell case. That one sticks out to me because the Biden administration was not even in office during any of the Epstein cases nor was he in office when Epstein died. President Trump was actually in office during the 2019 prosecution of Epstein and the death of Epstein. But — Biden was in office during Ghislaine Maxwell’s prosecution, trial and conviction. For the record president George W Bush was in office when Epstein got that sweetheart deal in 2007. The federal prosecutor who came up with that deal was a man named Alex Acosta. Alex Acosta ended up being Trump’s labor secretary during his first term.
Speaking of Trump and Acosta — neither of them received a subpoena from the house oversight committee to come and testify about what they knew about Epstein or Maxwell. But all these people did – including former attorneys general dating back to President Obama, former FBI directors and both former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Yesterday – someone else on this list was the first to testify to the committee. Former attorney general during Trump’s first term – Bill Barr. He was attorney general when Epstein was found dead in his cell in New York. And while we have no idea what Barr actually said – chairman Comer came out and told reporters that Barr – completely exonerated Donald Trump. Of Barr’s testimony comer said that “he had never seen anything that would implicate president trump in any of this, and that he believed if there had been anything pertaining to president trump with respect to the Epstein list, that he felt like the Biden administration would probably have leaked it out.” Comer also said that Barr did not know anything about an Epstein client list.
But – that’s not the whole story. The ranking member of the House oversight committee Representative Robert Garcia – a Democrat from California put out this statement today. Slamming the Trump DOJ – and chairman comer. He says this idea that DOJ is going to release the Epstein documents in batches is continuing “this White House cover-up.” He again calls for the full unredacted Epstein files – saying that what the public is ultimately going to get will be “handpicked, partial productions”. Garcia also said comer is not telling the whole truth about Bill Barr’s testimony. Garcia says “and to be clear, yesterday during his deposition with the committee attorney general Barr could not clear President Trump of wrongdoing.”
