King Charles III speaks for the first time. Hear what he had to say

September 9, 2022

In his first address to the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the world, the new King Charles III mirrored his late mother’s famous speech about the responsibility, duty and service required of the monarch

King Charles talked about the continuity and the steadiness his mother, Queen Elizabeth brought to the crown and said he plans to continue down that same path. Also expressed his grief over the loss of his mother, he paid tribute to the life she lived, said thanks to everyone who has sent condolences to the royal family – and briefly laid out what’s next for his immediate family.

He talked about his “darling” Camilla, praising her for her years of service to the people since they married 17 years ago calling her his Queen consort, he said William and Catherine will now become the Prince and Princess of Wales and William will also inherit the Scottish titles that were once held by the King and will also become the Duke of Cornwall. The King even mentioned his love for Harry and Megan “as they continue to build their life overseas”

After talking about all that has changed in the world and to the monarchy since Queen Elizabeth ascended the throne more than 70 years ago, he ended the 9 minute speech by acknowledging both of his parents.
