IRS Non-filers Tool Open For Those Who Qualify For Child Tax Credit. PLUS FAA Fines Unruly Passengers. | Lisa Remillard

IRS Non-filers tool open for those who qualify for Child Tax Credit. PLUS FAA fines unruly passengers.

Fast Facts for June 14, 2021

The non-filers tool is back up and running and now available if you are a true non-filer and want to claim the new monthly child tax credit or get one of your missing stimulus payments.

Before I give you the details — super important.

This non-filers tool is *not* for everyone. This tool is *only* for those who do not have a tax bill because of your low or no-income status. This tool is *not* the same as the child tax credit portal for regular tax filing Americans. That not available yet.

General rule of thumb – if you file a tax return – this video is *not* for you. Do *not* use this non-filer tool.

Are we clear???

For everyone else – if you are a true non-filer and did not file a tax return in either 2019 or 2020 because of your low or no-income status, and have a main home in the United States for more than 6 months a year, and you have children who would qualify for the monthly child tax credit or if you are missing any of your three stimulus payments you can use the non filer tool to give the IRS your current information. They will automatically determine your eligibility for both programs.

You’ll input your name, current mailing address, email address, date of birth, valid social security number for you and your dependents, your bank account information among other things.

If you entered your information into the previous non-filers portal that closed last year you do *not* need to input your information again.

To find the tool…go to irs.gov/childtaxcredit2021 click enter your information – read the qualifications and then if you qualify click “use the non-filer sign up tool”.

If you want to know how the new monthly child tax credit works please go to the “tax stuff” category on my page. I have all the information you need there.

As mask mandates disappear in most states – they’re still going strong in the friendly skies. And the FAA is not afraid to drop huge fines on unruly passengers who choose to challenge it’s zero tolerance policy.

The FAA says – since January – there have been 3000 reports of unruly passengers on board US flights – 2300 of those were because passengers refused to wear a mask.

In February a man on a Jet Blue flight from Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas was fined $15,500 because he repeatedly refused flight attendant commands to wear his facemask over his nose and mouth and instead continued to drink mini bottles of booze that he snuck on board.

A woman was fined $10,500 on a Jet Blue flight from New York to Cancun. She refused to wear a mask after being instructed to do so multiple times. Instead –this gem stuck her finger up her nose and started yelling profanities at flight attendants. The pilot landed the plane in Florida and had her removed.

And…a guy on an Alaska Airlines flight from Idaho to LA was fined $10,300 for refusing to wear a face mask after repeated commands. Oh – and he set off the smoke detector system because he was vaping in the airplane bathroom.

$7500 dollars. That’s how much a woman on a Southwest flight from Florida to Colorado was fined for repeatedly refusing to comply with the mask mandate.

Look – these are just a few of the fines. And the FAA is proving that they aren’t afraid to hand them down.

The FAA mask mandate is in effect – indefinitely. And the TSA also has a mask mandate from the second you step onto airport property to the second you leave and that remains in effect until September 13th.

FAA fine announcement here.
