By now you know taxes are due next Monday, May 17. Ahead of that deadline — I sat down with the IRS to get answers to your specific questions.
We talked about delayed tax refunds, missing EIP3 stimulus payments and of course that first $10,200 of unemployment tax you paid – before congress made it tax free.
If you’re owed money back because of that new law, the IRS will automatically re-calculate your return and your refund should come back to you starting in May (though the IRS was NOT specific when in May the money would be going out).
But if you owe federal taxes and you’re anticipating some unemployment tax money in the form of a refund — things get a little sticky.
The IRS suggests talking with a tax professional to figure out your options. You can watch the full interview on beond.tv.
