Hunter Biden just got hit with nine serious criminal federal tax crimes.
Special Counsel David Weiss just filed this 56-page grand jury indictment of the President’s son in the in the Central District federal court in California. Three of these charges are felonies and the rest are misdemeanors.
The crimes include failure to file and pay taxes, evasion of assessment and filing a false or fraudulent tax return. Federal prosecutors allege in the indictment that Hunter Biden engaged in “a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million dollars” in federal income taxes for the years 2016 through 2019. The indictment goes on to say the president’s son spent millions on “an extravagant lifestyle” instead of paying his tax bills and in 2018, he stopped paying outstanding and overdue taxes for the tax year 2015. The special counsel alleges that once Hunter Biden did file his 2018 tax return, it included “false business deductions” in an apparent effort to reduce his tax liabilities.
The documents lists lots and lots of thing the Special Counsel claims Biden spent money on instead of paying his tax bill or trying to write them off as legitimate business expenses including, clothes for himself, things for his then girlfriend and several stays at the celebrity hot spot the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles totaling about $44,000. He also – according to the Special Counsel — spent about $188,000 on adult entertainment.
The Justice Department says Hunter Biden could face a maximum of 17 years in prison if convicted of the charges. Biden has not yet entered a plea to these charges.
This is the second indictment of Hunter Biden by Special Counsel Weiss. The other one was filed in Delaware in September that stemmed from Biden’s alleged possession of a firearm in October 2018, which prosecutors previously said he unlawfully possessed for 11 days. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to those charges.
