Federal Judge BLOCKS Biden asylum policy

July 25, 2023

There are so many controversies happening at the US-Mexico border right now. And this morning – another one. And this has nothing to do with buoys. It has to do with a Biden policy that would make it harder for migrants to seek asylum in the United States if they cross the border illegally has been blocked by a federal judge.

Immigration advocates sued the Biden Administration saying that policy was not legal calling it a rehash of a failed Trump-era policy.

Today a federal judge in California agreed in this 35 page ruling — saying this rule implemented by the president back in May is unlawful. The policy says asylum seeking migrants must first seek asylum in another country before attempting to seek asylum in America.

The fact is migrants crossing the border illegally dropped sharpy in May and June right after this rule took effect. The Biden administration says that’s because of this asylum policy in addition to the new CBP One app that allows migrants to schedule interviews at official ports of entry so they can seek asylum legally.

The federal judge said he will put a 14 day stay on his order blocking the asylum policy so the Biden Administration has time to appeal before it takes effect.
