The Republican candidates for president will be back on stage tomorrow night fighting for your attention and your vote. This 2nd Republican debate will generally look the same as the first debate except for one significant difference.
The group on stage will be smaller.

At this point eight Republican candidates have qualified: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and former President Trump.
But like last time, former President Trump has decided to sit this one out. He has suggested that he is so far ahead in the polls that debating the others could only hurt him. So instead he will give a speech in Detroit.
Also missing from tomorrow night’s stage is former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson. He qualified for the first debate but did not qualify for this one.
As for the other Republicans who *will be on stage — the way these candidates stand up there is important – they aren’t just placed at a random podium. No. The person in the middle is the one with the highest polling numbers and the ones on the end are the ones with the lowest polling numbers. The person in the middle generally gets a lot of attention and is the one who usually gets attacked the most from the others on stage who ultimately want to secure that center spot for themselves. Here’s how things will look tomorrow night.
Fox Business Network which is hosting the debate says Ron DeSantis will be standing in the middle, Vivek Ramaswamy will be standing to his right. Nikki Hayley will be to his left. Tim Scott will be next to Vivek Ramaswamy, then Chris Christie next to Nikki Haley an on the ends Mike Pence and Doug Burgum.
There were a lot of fireworks between these candidates during the last debate and expect the same now. Especially when it comes to the border, national defense, education and of course the looming government shutdown.
This two-hour debate is being broadcast from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California and will be televised on, Fox News, Fox Business Network and Univision. You can also watch it on the streaming platform Rumble. It all starts at 9 pm eastern.
