It’s summer and Americans clearly want to travel.
But can you vacation in another country yet??
Depends on where you want to go.
After a decision today — the border between the US and Canada will remain closed to non-essential travel until July 21 and once we reach that date, will open slowly – in phases. Our northern border with Canada has been closed since march of 2020.
The southern land border with Mexico remains closed to non-essential travel until June 21st and once we reach that date, reopening will be ..again.. Phased in. Us citizens are allowed to reenter the United States if they’ve traveled to Mexico.
As for Europe – the EU has recommended its 27 member bloc should reopen non-essential travel to US travelers soon. This recommendation is not binding and each member nation of the EU can impose its own restrictions. And several have – deciding to roll out the welcome mat later this month or in July.
Many European countries also require a negate covid19 PCR test, mask wearing, and quarantines and some countries require proof of vaccination before you enter.
It’s important for you to check the u-s state department website for travel restrictions and rules *before* you book any trip out of the country.
