We may get some answers this week about whether or not we’ll see the Department of Justice affidavit that served as the basis for the approval of the search of Mar-a-Lago. The federal judge has has scheduled a hearing on Thursday of this week.
I reported yesterday about a lawsuit that was filed by several media outlets suing to have the affidavit unsealed. The Department of Justice is vehemently opposed to the unsealing of the document for several serious reasons including the threat to national security if included information gets out into the public space, that it may compromise the current cooperating witnesses and future witnesses, and if the document is released, it will give everyone a “roadmap” to the DOJ’s case and will compromise it going forward.
We’ll see what the judge says.
