That is not 2024 presidential candidate and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. It’s his brand new AI chat bot.
And in case you didn’t know – the conservative Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has joined the crowded Republican field to take on former President Trump to become the GOP nominee.
The super PAC that supports Suarez’s campaign rolled out this new feature on its website today where you can interact with this AI bot that uses Suarez’s face and voice. But it’s clearly clunky and repeatedly refers to itself as “AI Francis Suarez”.
Now, the bot is limited in what it can do. I asked it several questions including — why I should vote for Suarez. The bot gave me a 55 second canned speech about job creation and Suarez’s other accomplishments as Mayor. But what’s interesting is when I asked the bot what makes Suarez different than Trump.
It didn’t give me a list of things that were different between the candidates it randomly started talking about pardons. Look, I wouldn’t normally even bring this up but it is interesting that a presidential candidate is trying to utilize the power of AI. This is the first we’re seeing it – in this capacity during the 2024 presidential election. There are upsides to it – but as we know there are also downsides.
