The Iranians shot down one of our Apache helicopters last night.
President Trump just confirmed it in this post just a few minutes ago. He said the two pilots on board were patrolling the Strait of Hormuz when they were shot down. Thankfully, both of the pilots — according to the president — are safe and uninjured.
But something isn’t adding up here, especially since just last night President Trump said the U.S. and Iran were just hours away from a very, very good deal to end this war and reopen the strait.
12:02: “We’re in the final throes of a very, very good deal. Iran will not have a nuclear weapon, and the strait will open up immediately, which could be in two or three days.”
It’s unclear if this deal that Trump said is just two or three days away is now over, and more importantly, it’s unclear if the cease-fire between the U.S. and Iran is over. Especially because President Trump said in his post a few minutes ago that the United States must respond to this attack on the helicopter.
It’s unclear what that U.S. response will look like, but I’m sure we will know shortly.
It doesn’t appear that Iran got the memo that a peace deal was hours away because they launched this attack on our Apache helicopter.
And just moments after Trump’s post today, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament basically said, “It’s on.”
He said, “We prefer the language of diplomacy, but we speak other languages far more fluently. Break your commitments, and we’ll switch to what we speak best. You ride the horse you saddled.”
