Trump RX is finally here.
This is the website President Trump has been touting for months – where he says you can buy certain brand-name prescription drugs for a much lower price.
How low?
Well before I get into those numbers – I want you to understand that trump r-x is like a clearing house for these drugs. You don’t pay the US government for these drugs…instead when you find a prescription drug you want — this website will either direct you to the pharmaceutical company and then you will buy it directly from them or you will get a coupon from the Trump RX website and then you take that coupon to your pharmacy. These lower prices are the result of direct negotiations between trump the white house and these pharmaceutical companies. There are only about 40 medications right now…so let’s look at a few examples.
Let’s take Ozempic which is a popular glp-1 drug…that we all know is very expensive. When you look it up – you choose which strength you want – then it asks how many times have you taken Ozempic either never or once – and you pay $200 instead of the original retail price of more than $1000. But if you’ve taken Ozempic more than twice you pay about $350. Then you have to accept the terms…
Which means you have to confirm that you are a resident of the United States or US territory. You have to confirm that you are not enrolled in insurance from any government, state or federally funded medical prescription benefit program including – Medicare, VA, DOD Tricare or Medicaid. That means for this particular drug it appears like if you are enrolled in any of those plans you cannot access this price. You of course also have to have a valid prescription for Ozempic. Then you agree to the terms and then you get a coupon which then you take to your pharmacy with your prescription.
Let’s look at another drug. We know how expensive IVF drugs are – and Trump RX has one called Gonal F. You type in the name and it takes you to the page where you can find the drug for as low as $168 for the lowest strength. Unlike with Ozempic – for this drug you don’t have to agree to the same terms but you get this same coupon and then you take that coupon along with your valid prescription to the pharmacy and you can get the drug for that price.
