The House has just passed a $14 billion dollar emergency aid package for Israel. But this one – may not be going anywhere.
The final vote –
226 to 196 with 11 representatives not voting.
The vast majority of Republicans voted yes on this bill only two Republicans voted no.
And the vast majority of Democrats voted no on this bill and 12 Democrats voted yes.
Now – it’s important to understand 194 Democrats didn’t vote no on this bill because they don’t want to send aid to Israel. The vast majority of them do want to send aid to Israel and have supported it in the past. Most voted no because they didn’t like how the new House Speaker decided to fund this bill. You see — emergency aid packages are not normally ever tied to what are called offsets. But – this one is – because the new speaker – who continually talks about reducing the debt – says we have to make sure this bill is paid for. And as I told you in this video earlier this week the way he decided to pay for it was to cut $14.3 billion dollars out of a democrat priority – the funding that was approved by the IRS last year.
Funding – which as I told you in this video — the IRS has been using a bunch of that money to go after millionaires and huge corporations who are cheating on their taxes. And they’ve been pretty successful at it — recouping almost $40 million dollars in unpaid taxes in just the last few months.
Now back to this emergency aid bill for Israel.
I don’t know what to tell you – other than, it’s already dead on arrival in the Senate. And the President has said he would veto it if it somehow made it to his desk. The President, senate Democrats along with several Senate Republicans all would rather see a bill that includes aid for Israel and aid for Ukraine in the same package.
So now – it’s in the Senate’s hands. It seems everyone is on board with an emergency military aid package for Israel – but getting it passed through the House and Senate is a whole different story.
