December was another record number of workers quitting their jobs.
Today’s new December Labor Turnover report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics confirms 4.3 million American workers quit their jobs. That’s slightly down from November’s 4.5 million quit record high. December is the fifth straight month of more than 4 million workers quitting their jobs.
October saw 4.2 million quits, September had 4.4 million quits, and August had 4.3 million quits.
This does NOT mean these workers are unemployed it likely means most jumped to a new or better job or left the traditional workforce. The report also found 10.9 million jobs are open now.
The industries with the highest quit rate in December were food services and leisure & hospitality.

Infants and toddlers may soon be able to be vaccinated against Covid 19.
Pfizer submitted its request to the FDA for emergency use authorization for a vaccine meant for kids ages six-months up to five years old. At least initially, the company is asking for EUA for a two-dose primary series with a significantly smaller dosage. Pfizer says a third dose booster given eight-weeks after the initial series is going through testing now and is not included in this current request.
But this is *not* a done deal. As with all the vaccines before, now that this request has been made, the data will be submitted, then the FDA independent advisory panel will meet and discuss it, then if they give the o-k, the FDA Commissioner will approve or deny, then the request gets moved over to the CDC advisory panel and ultimately the CDC director for final recommendation.
Pfizer’s request today is the first step in what’s called a “rolling submission” to the FDA meaning the company will complete the full request in the coming days.
Currently Pfizer’s Covid19 two-dose vaccine is fully FDA and CDC approved for those over the age 16. Those ages five to 15 are eligible to get the Pfizer vaccine under emergency use authorization.
