Huge changes are coming to connect everyone in America to affordable, reliable high-speed internet.
Today, the White House announced the largest in history internet funding program of almost $42.5 billion. This is grant money to help bring high speed internet to the 8.5 million Americans who have no access to it and the 24 million Americans who can’t afford it. Each state, territory and the District of Columbia will receive hundreds of millions and in some cases billions of dollars to deploy or upgrade broadband networks to make sure that everyone has access to reliable, affordable, high-speed internet service. This is on top of the affordable connectivity program that provides eligible households with a discount of up to $30 a month for high-speed internet service and up to a $100 discount towards a desktop, laptop or tablet computer.
Now – this is not new money the President created out of thin air, this $42.5 billion was approved by Congress through the bipartisan Infrastructure law last year.
