Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Application Is Available But Only BETA Testing | Lisa Remillard

Federal student loan forgiveness application is available but only BETA testing

October 15, 2022

In case you missed it last night, the Department of Education opened up the Student Loan Forgiveness application portal. BUT! This is only a BETA test. Meaning, the DOE is trying to test out its system before the fully roll out the application to all borrowers.

The application is not always available on studentaid.gov. Sometimes it’s available and sometimes it’s not. It’ll be that way for a few days while they work out the kinks. However, several of my followers have reported that they have been successful in getting their application submitted.

The Department of Education says there is NO benefit to getting your application in early. So if you miss out, don’t worry. DOE also says, if you are successful in getting your application in early you will NOT have to submit it again once the portal rolls out to everyone.

      1. I was able to get in on beta application.. I also got the email , if you signed up for email notifications you would get email which also gave access

      1. I would try a different computer or close all the tabs and try again.
I have got on multiple times today to check the website and it has been fine.

I feel that it’s best that you start working on a physical application as I’m a particular person I will not apply online I don’t want my personal information being stolen there’s too many hackers scammers and I’m not comfortable I want to be able to call the loan letter and have them send me the application in the mail

    1. I don’t know if they will have a paper application. That has never been discussed.
But you can wait and see what happens.

This application calls for your full name, social security number, date of birth and contact information. You review it certify under penalty of perjury of law that the info is correct and hit submit. At this point they are not asking for private information and everything that you have provided is not only minimal info but is directly at the student aid.gov website. Like someone else stated, it’s doubtful there will be a paper application.

  2. It said that they will email you to let you know it’s been received, but I never got an email.. does that mean I should apply again?

  3. I submitted the student loan forgiveness application BETA on 10/16. I also received a confirmation from studentaid.gov with next step instructions.

I submitted my application on 10/15/2022. Also, I received an email saying the application was successfully submitted.

  4. My question is, doea this application explain everything? Any criteria, exceptions and what not. I want to be fully informed when I apply, dont want to have any surprises later on in life.

  5. Thank you it seems to be important information to us all!
I’m looking forward to any update information that will assist in this
    Matter.
    Appreciate your emails.

  6. I was able to submit my application, however the Beta test was for the people I believe that inquire earlier. I submitted today and received confirmation.
