The United States will be under a Covid19 public health emergency at least through January 11, 2023.
The public health emergency was supposed to expire today, but the Biden Administration announced its decision to extend again as health officials brace for a spike in cases this winter.
The public health emergency allows the emergency authorization of vaccines, testing and treatment for free. It expanded Medicaid coverage for millions of Americans so they could get healthcare if they got sick and it allowed the temporary expansion of telehealth as an option.
President Trump first declared the Covid19 public health emergency in January 2020 and it has been renewed every 90 days since.
The Biden Administration says it would provide 60 days notice before it ends the public health emergency.
