The Trump legal team has appealed to the Supreme Court over those classified documents seized by the FBI during the search of Mar-a-Lago.
I told you in this video that the 11th Circuit ruled in favor of the Department of Justice and said about 100 of the 11,000 documents that were taken from the former President’s Florida home were so Top Secret that the special master filtering through it and the trump team had no business reviewing them they belonged in the possession of federal government.
Well, the former President and his lawyers disagree and are asking the Supreme Court to step in so that the special master can look at the classified documents and determine whether some of them may fall into a special category of being both classified *and* executive privilege.
Trump’s appeal does not address the part of the 11th Circuit ruling that allows DOJ‘s criminal investigation to continue during the special master review.
Because the case is filed on the Supreme Court’s emergency docket, the justices could resolve the dispute relatively quickly – potentially within a matter of days. Or they can decide not to hear the case at all.
