An appeals court has just ruled in favor of the Department of Justice when it comes to those classified documents seized by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago.
The three-judge panel ruled that the lower court judge in Florida, Judge Cannon got it wrong on two issues. The appeals court now says the Department of Justice can continue its criminal investigation into why those documents were at Mar-a-Lago in the first place using those documents that were seized.
The appellate court also sided with the Justice Department and said the newly appointed Special Master will not be allowed to review 100 of the most sensitive classified documents. Though the Special Master will continue his review of the more than 10,000 other documents that were seized during the search.
Not that it really matters – but I know you’ll want to know. One of the judges who ruled in this case was appointed by President Obama but the other two were appointed by President Trump.
Lawyers for the former President can appeal this decision to the Supreme Court.
