December 8, 2021

For the third month in a row, more than 4 million American workers QUIT their jobs according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover survey was release for the month of October today. It says 4.2 million American workers quit their jobs in October. That’s down from the 4.4 million worker record high quit rate for the month of September and the nearly equally high 4.3 million worker quit rate for August.

The BLS says in October the number of workers who quit in October started to decrease in a few sectors like transportation, warehousing and utilities. Though the number of quits increased in state and local government.

These quits are separate from layoffs, discharges and other separation. When including all of those forms of separation, the number of people who are no longer with their employer as of October was 5.9 million.
