Fast Facts for June 29, 2021
If you haven’t opted out of the monthly child tax credit – it’s already too late for the first payment. So whether you like it or not, if you qualify, you’re getting it one July 15th.
the deadline to opt out for that July payment was yesterday, June 28.
That means – if you financially qualify – the IRS will be direct depositing or mailing you a paper check for either $300 or $250 depending on the age of your child.
If you want to opt out of the rest of the payments, you have until august second to stop the next one from coming. If you do *not* want the monthly payments go to irs.gov/childtaxcredit2021 and use the unenroll button.

The Eviction Moratorium will stay – so says the Supreme Court.
In a 5 to 4 decision today, the Justices ruled against group of landlords, real estate companies and real estate trade associations – who claimed the CDC overstepped its authority by issuing the Eviction Moratorium and it was causing an undue burden on landlords. The justices disagreed.
Chief Justice John Roberts and Trump appointed Justice Brett Kavanaugh joined the three liberal justices on this decision. Kavanaugh said he agreed with the plaintiff that *yes* the CDC overstepped its authority to even issue this moratorium in the first place, but ultimately voted to keep the moratorium in place because he says it’s ending soon anyway.
