You may not be protected from eviction after all.
A Washington DC federal judge just ruled in this 20 page decision — the CDC overstepped its authority by extending the eviction moratorium until June 30th and that the order should be revoked.
The eviction moratorium began at the beginning of the pandemic under the trump administration and both congress and the c-d-c have extended the deadline repeatedly since. As I detailed in this video about a month ago — the c-d-c extended the eviction moratorium because it said, at that time — kicking renters out of their homes for non-payment of rent, would cause a wave of covid19 infection and mass homelessness.
Though the CDC was clear, not everyone qualifies for the eviction moratorium and those who did not were in fact, evicted.
But…throughout the pandemic, landlords and property owners have consistently challenged the CDC order arguing the policy sets an undue financial burden on business owners and landlords.
Today, the d-c federal circuit court judge agreed.
This isn’t the first time a judge has weighed in on this issue — several other federal judges across the country have ruled on this same matter over the last year. Some have ruled in favor of it, some have ruled against it.
The Biden administration says it will immediately appeal this recent decision and will ask for a stay on the ruling…meaning nothing will change – for now. Until this matter comes before an appellate court judge.

The IRS just dropped another batch of EIP3 stimulus payments.
Another 1.1 million to be exact.
That makes a total of 164 million EIP3 stimulus payments distributed from the American Rescue Act that was signed into law back in march.
No, this is not a new stimulus payment.
This is the eighth batch of EIP3 payments distributed by direct deposit and paper check with a pay date of today. Though if you got a paper check the IRS guidance says to allow 3-4 weeks for delivery.
This eighth batch includes more than 585,000 payments to individuals for whom the IRS previously didn’t have information but was obtained because of a recently filed tax return.
This batch also included more than 570,000 “plus up” payments to Americans who were owed more stimulus money based on their newly processed 2020 tax return.
If you are still owed an EIP3 stimulus payment and still have not received it or are still owed more money in a “plus up” payment, don’t worry…the IRS is issuing EIP3 payments weekly as they continue to process 2020 tax returns.
