Remember that white powdery substance found at the White House over the summer?
Well – today — the White House released the Secret Service images of it.
You can see it’s in a little baggie in a locker. Those lockers are located near the west executive entrance. That’s where special visitors to the West Wing are asked to leave their phones and other belongings while on staff-led tours.
I reported at the time the Secret Service conducted an investigation, they dusted for fingerprints, they collected DNA – but by July 12 they closed their investigation saying they couldn’t identify who the baggie belonged to.
Lab results couldn’t pull a latent finger print or compile a full DNA profile. Complicating things — these tours of the West Wing happen by invitation of White House staffers and hundreds and hundreds of visitors pass through and have access to that area and just so happens there are no security cameras pointed right at those lockers. All those things combined made it impossible to find a suspect.
When the baggie was discovered on Sunday July 2nd – the President and his entire family as well as the Vice President were out of town for the holiday. The White House had to briefly be evacuated.
