The TikTok ban has entered the chat…again.
This time – the calls came from the Republican candidates standing on the debate stage last night.
So here’s what we’re going to do.
I want to make a score card so it’s super easy for you to see which republican candidates are for a TikTok ban and which are not. You’ll hear exactly what they had to say last night and then we’ll see where we end up at the end. Fair enough???
First – let’s talk about the person who really came out swinging – former New Jersey governor Chris Christie.
Ok…that’s a yes on a TikTok ban.
How about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis? He was asked would you ban TikTok.
Well – he talked about a bunch of stuff – but pretty sure that was a yes on a TikTok ban.
Let’s look at South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
That’s a yes on a TikTok ban. And if the courts don’t allow it – get China out of the app. How? He didn’t say. But he definitely talked about farmland and six-figure jobs.
Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley used her time on the stage last night — not to talk about TikTok but to clap back at the hits she was talking from the other candidates. But I can tell you – based on her previous debate performances she is a definite yes on a TikTok ban.
And last – that leave entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Who – just so happens to have an account right here on TikTok. And started his answer about whether he would ban TikTok by hitting Nikki Haley with a pretty nasty jab.
So that’s a maybe on a TikTok ban? But maybe more. Honestly not quite sure.
So here’s the score card – four out of the five Republicans presidential candidates on stage last night are hard yeses on a TikTok ban and one is a maybe. But what about the far and away front runner for the Republican presidential nomination – former President Donald Trump. Well he hasn’t talked about it lately but he of course was behind two attempts to ban TikTok back in 2020. He was stopped both times by the court. So it’s safe to say he’s also in the ban it column.
